Behind every road crash statistic is a person.

  • A parent who didn't make it home.
  • A student whose life changed in a second.
  • A family still learning to live with the loss.

This walk is our way of saying they are not forgotten, and that the roads they travelled can be made safer for everyone who comes after.

You don't need to be an athlete to join.

This is a walk, not a race, and there are two ways to take part.

Walk as a relay team.

Gather two friends, colleagues or family members and share the distance, with each of you covering 10km before passing the baton. It's the easiest way in, and it's a great choice for workplaces, churches, schools and running clubs. Mixed teams of men and women are especially welcome.

The person who signs the team up becomes its captain and our main point of contact, so we'll go through you to keep your teammates informed.

Walk the full 30km solo.

If you're ready for a real challenge, carry the baton for the entire route yourself. It's a long morning and a powerful statement, and every kilometre is walked in someone's memory.

Recovery after a crash can take months or even years, and it is often expensive.

Every participant is invited, though not required, to give UGX 20,000 toward supporting road crash victims through that journey. You can make your contribution by mobile money as part of registration. We won't be collecting cash at the event, so please send it ahead of time.

If you can't walk on the day, you can still help.

Share this page with someone who would want to be part of it, or send a contribution to +256 771 394048 (Joseph Odoi).

Come walk with us.

Come for the people we've lost, the people still healing, and the people we can still protect.

About Joe Walker

Joe Walker is Joseph Beyanga, a road safety advocate who started walking in 2021 on a doctor's advice. On his walks around Kampala and Wakiso he saw how dangerous our roads can be for pedestrians, and in 2022 he walked 340km from Kampala to Bushenyi to call for safer roads.
