ROAD SAFETY
The UN General Assembly declared 2021-2030 a “Decade of Action for Road Safety” with a target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. I am taking one step at a time to help achieve this.
Walking benefits
It helps you maintain a healthy weight and improve your BMI, prevent or manage many common non-communicable diseases and actually improves your sex life.
Pedestrians
Always walk on sidewalks. Where there are none, walk facing oncoming traffic and keep a safe distance. Use zebra crossings or safe intersections to cross.
Signs for safety
Road signs are not meant to beautify the area. They are supposed to guide you on how to use the road so understand what they mean and follow them.
Safe driving
Safe driving makes roads safe for all road users and safe roads save lives. Always wear a seatbelt, respect speed limits, stay in your lane and avoid distractions.
ROAD CRASHES
Careless driving/over speeding, reckless driving, cars in dangerous mechanical condition and lack of safety gear are leading causes of road crashes.

About Joe Walker
Joseph Beyanga a.k.a Joe Walker is a Ugandan award-winning road safety advocate looking to save lives through his Road Safety Awareness campaigns and other avenues available. His passion for walking was sparked by a doctor’s directive back in 2021 which took on a whole new direction once he made those first steps. Through his walk and road safety initiatives, Joe hopes to tackle issues such as road safety, behavior change on the roads, and living a healthy lifestyle.
