Joe Walker commended by Jubilee Allianz
Joe Walker and friends were on Thursday, March 9th, commended and appreciated for the walk to Mbale, by Jubilee Allianz at the Railway Grounds in Kampala, where the company was participating in the Annual Insurance Week.
In a campaign dubbed #TooYoungtoDie, Joseph Beyanga (commonly known as Joe Walker), with his friends and colleagues walked over 240km to Mbale to raise awareness about road safety. Jubilee Allianz was one of the sponsors of the walk and provided the team with Shs5 million to cater for logistics and educational materials, something that Joe Walker said was a big boost to the campaign.
“Thank you very much for your support towards the cause. During the walk we interacted with many road users including the boda riders, taxi drivers and especially the roadside communities. We got to understand their challenges. Your support enabled us to do all that and made the walk much easier,” he said.
Ms Betty Nakanjako the Marketing and Customer service Representative, speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of Jubilee Allianz, Mr. Paul Kavuma, acknowledged the efforts by the Joe Walker team in doing their part to make Ugandan roads safe.
“Joe Walker is a remarkable individual who has dedicated his life to improving road safety and saving lives. He knows all too well the devastating toll that accidents and unsafe driving practices can have on individuals, families, and communities. That’s why he has made it his mission to raise awareness about this important issue and inspire people to take action to create safer roads,” Ms Nakanjako said in a speech written by Mr. Kavuma to applaud and encourage the team.
During the event, the Jubilee Allianz team led by Ms. Dorothy Martha Naluwende the Bancassurance Officer handed over items including hampers, and a voucher for Adidas. Joe Walker handed over a thank you letter and a report of the Kampala-to-Mbale walk, that detailed what the journey was like and the recommendations given. He also thanked the team for their generosity and pledged to continue working with Jubilee Allianz to raise awareness so as to have safe roads and less deaths caused due to road accidents.
